Wan Chai

"Looking down from the rooftop, I was fascinated by the stream of tram passengers merging with the pedestrians, naturally, effortlessly." Woo Cheong is a rare example of four connected shophouses built more than 100 years ago. At the ground floor was a pawnshop, that's long gone, but the heritage lives on in the name: The Pawn.

Hong Kong is a city of contrasts. A delivery guy riding his old-fashioned bicycle on the tram tracks in the skyscraper jungle. The distinctive triangular office building behind him is the Chinese Methodist Church. It's only the bell tower that gives it away.

Oi Kwan Barber

Oi Kwan is one of the few traditional Canton Barber shops remaining in Hong Kong. A few years ago, Mark Lau took over a tiny shop in a small back alley on Spring Garden Lane from his dad. Now in his new branch on Mallory Street, Mark is all about modernising the brand and reviving old craftsmanship.
